How CoachLeap develops your coaching staff

360-degree feedback from every perspective

Student-athletes, parents, fellow coaches, and administrators each rate the coach independently. The result is a complete, multi-dimensional picture, not a single person's opinion.

Clear coaching profiles with CAMS™

Every coach gets a profile showing their primary and secondary coaching styles, a balance index across all four CAMS dimensions, and a comparison between self-assessment and observer ratings. Blind spots become visible.

AI-generated development insights

AI synthesizes quantitative scores and written feedback into themes, recommendations, and development areas. Coaches get actionable starting points for growth, not a raw data dump.

Confidential, anonymous feedback

Survey responses are completely anonymous. Coaches never see who said what. AI screens every written comment before coaches see it, flagging personal attacks, identifying information, and hostile language. The result is honest, constructive feedback that coaches can actually act on.

Self-assessment gap analysis

Coaches evaluate themselves using the same survey. When their self-ratings are compared to observer ratings, the gaps reveal exactly where their self-perception doesn't match reality. That's the most powerful catalyst for development.

Season-over-season tracking

Run evaluations every season. Track how each coach develops over time. See which development areas improve and which need continued attention. Build a longitudinal record of coaching growth.

How it works: from launch to development plan

1

Set up your evaluation campaign

Create a campaign in five steps: name it, select the coaches you want to evaluate, choose the CAMS™ survey (or a hybrid template with your own custom questions), configure distribution settings for each rater group, and launch. The entire setup takes less than 10 minutes, even for a department with 30+ coaches.

2

Collect multi-perspective feedback

Student-athletes scan a QR code at practice and complete the survey on their phones in about two minutes. Parents and fellow coaches receive email invitations with automated reminders. Coaches complete a self-assessment using the same survey questions. In-person QR code distribution typically achieves 90%+ completion rates because there is no app to download, no account to create, and no login required.

3

AI screens every comment

Before any written feedback reaches a coach, AI Comment Review scans it for personal attacks, profanity, identifying information, and hostile language. Clean comments pass through automatically. Flagged comments go to your queue for review. You approve, edit, or redact each one. This protects coaches from unfair feedback while preserving the honesty of anonymous responses.

4

Review reports and coaching profiles

Each coach receives a detailed report: an executive summary with their primary and secondary CAMS™ coaching style, a balance index, and a Coach Rating Index (CRI) score. The CAMS radar chart shows observer ratings alongside self-assessment ratings, making blind spots immediately visible. AI-generated insights highlight themes, strengths, development areas, and specific recommendations. You get the same data at the organizational level, with comparison views across your entire coaching staff.

5

Have a data-driven development conversation

Sit down with each coach and walk through their report together. The data gives you a concrete starting point: "Your athletes rated you highly as a Motivator, but lower as a Strategist. Here are three specific things they said." That conversation is fundamentally different from "I think you could improve your game planning." The coach has clear, actionable feedback to work with, and you can track progress in the next season's evaluation.

Frequently Asked Questions

When raters know their feedback is anonymous, they give honest, specific feedback rather than generic praise. This means coaches get the real data they need to grow. Athletes in particular are far more candid when they know their coach can't identify them.

AI Comment Review screens every written comment before coaches see it. Personal attacks, profanity, identifying information, and unfair accusations are flagged for the Athletic Director to review. Only constructive feedback reaches coaches. This protects coaches while preserving the honesty of the process.

Traditional annual reviews are one person's opinion, often based on a handful of observations. CoachLeap collects structured feedback from dozens of athletes, parents, and colleagues using a validated framework. The data is richer, more balanced, and far more actionable.

About 10 to 15 minutes. The coach report includes an executive summary with their primary coaching style, secondary style, and balance index. Below that, they see a CAMS radar chart comparing self-assessment to observer ratings, followed by AI-generated insights with specific themes and recommendations. It is designed to be immediately actionable, not a wall of numbers.

Yes. You can evaluate any coach in your program, including head coaches, assistant coaches, and volunteer coaches. Each coach gets their own profile, evaluation history, and development record. Many Athletic Directors start with head coaches and then expand to assistants in the following season.

Better feedback. Better coaches. Better programs.
